Enjoy a rich and creamy chocolate mousse made with semi-sweet chocolate, heavy cream, and sweetened condensed milk. This easy-to-make dessert is perfect for any occasion and is sure to impress your guests!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder (optional, for garnish)
  • Fresh berries or mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Melt the Chocolate: Place the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth (about 1 to 1.5 minutes). Be careful not to overheat.
  2. Combine with Condensed Milk: Let the melted chocolate cool slightly. In a separate bowl, mix the sweetened condensed milk with the melted chocolate until smooth.
  3. Add Vanilla and Salt: Stir in the vanilla extract and salt to the chocolate mixture until well combined.
  4. Chill Your Equipment: Chill your mixing bowl and beaters in the freezer for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Whip the Cream: Pour the heavy cream into the chilled bowl and beat on medium speed until soft peaks form (about 2-3 minutes). Avoid over-whipping.
  6. Fold in the Chocolate Mixture: Mix a small amount of whipped cream into the chocolate mixture to lighten it, then gently fold in the remaining whipped cream in two or three additions.
  7. Transfer to Serving Dishes: Spoon the mousse into individual serving dishes or glasses.
  8. Chill in the Refrigerator: Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours until set.
  9. Prepare for Garnishing: Wash and dry fresh berries or mint leaves, and sift cocoa powder if using.
  10. Garnish the Mousse: Add a dollop of whipped cream, sprinkle cocoa powder, and top with fresh berries or mint leaves.
  11. Serve and Enjoy: Serve immediately or keep refrigerated until ready to serve.
