Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the gochujang, softened butter, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil.
  2. Whisk or fork mix until smooth and cohesive.
  3. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels.
  4. Season both sides of the salmon fillets with salt and pepper.
  5. Place the salmon in a shallow dish or resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade over, ensuring each fillet is well-coated.
  6. Cover the dish or seal the bag, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (up to 2 hours for enhanced flavor).
  7. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  8. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil. If using a wire rack, place it on top for even cooking.
  9. After marinating, let the salmon sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes.
  10. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet or wire rack.
  11. Spoon any remaining marinade over the fillets.
  12. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).
  13. While baking, prepare garnishes: slice green onions and toast sesame seeds in a dry skillet until golden.
  14. Once done, let the salmon rest for a couple of minutes.
  15. Serve each salmon fillet on a plate, drizzling with juices from the baking sheet.
  16. Sprinkle with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds.
  17. For a complete meal, serve with steamed rice or a fresh salad.
  18. Enjoy your crispy gochujang butter salmon, relishing the delightful combination of flavors.
  19. Share with friends or family to impress them with your culinary skills!
