Ginger Peach Lemonade: A Refreshing Summer Recipe

Refreshing homemade lemonade with sweet peach puree and spicy ginger simple syrup. Perfect for summer!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 ripe peaches, pitted and roughly chopped
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water (for simple syrup)
  • 1 (2-inch) piece of fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 8 cups cold water (for lemonade)
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (from about 68 lemons)
  • Ice cubes, for serving
  • Fresh mint sprigs, for garnish (optional)
  • Peach slices, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and 1 cup of water.
  2. Add the thinly sliced ginger to the saucepan.
  3. Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until the sugar is completely dissolved (3-5 minutes).
  4. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Reduce the heat slightly and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and let the syrup cool completely (30 minutes to 1 hour).
  6. Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean jar or container. Discard the ginger slices.
  7. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  8. Pit and roughly chop the peaches.
  9. Place the chopped peaches in a blender or food processor.
  10. Blend until completely smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
  11. (Optional) Strain the peach puree through a fine-mesh sieve for an extra smooth texture.
  12. In a large pitcher, combine the peach puree, ginger simple syrup, cold water, and lemon juice.
  13. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
  14. Taste and adjust sweetness and tartness as needed (more syrup for sweetness, more lemon juice for tartness).
  15. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  16. Fill glasses with ice cubes.
  17. Pour the chilled lemonade into the glasses.
  18. Garnish with fresh mint sprigs and peach slices (optional).
  19. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Sparkling Lemonade: Substitute some of the cold water with sparkling water or club soda.
  • Peach Variety: Experiment with different varieties of peaches.
  • Ginger Intensity: Adjust the amount of ginger in the simple syrup to your liking.
  • Sweetener Options: Substitute the granulated sugar with honey, agave nectar, or maple syrup.
  • Boozy Version: Add a shot of vodka, gin, or bourbon to each glass of lemonade.
  • Freezing for Later: Freeze the peach puree in ice cube trays for later use.
  • Lemon Zest: Add a teaspoon of lemon zest to the lemonade for an extra burst of citrus flavor.
  • Other Fruit Combinations: Try adding raspberries, strawberries, or blueberries to the peach puree for a unique and delicious flavor.
  • Peach Ginger Mocktail: Muddle a few slices of cucumber at the bottom of each glass before adding ice and lemonade. You can also rim the glasses with a mixture of sugar and finely grated ginger for an extra touch of elegance and flavor. For a final flourish, garnish with a candied ginger stick or a sprig of rosemary.
  • Lemonade too tart? Add more ginger simple syrup, a little at a time, until you reach your desired level of sweetness.
  • Lemonade too sweet? Add more lemon juice, a little at a time, until you balance the flavors. You can also add a splash of water to dilute the sweetness.
  • Peach puree too thick? Add a little water or lemon juice to thin it out.
  • Ginger flavor not strong enough? Next time, simmer the ginger simple syrup for a longer period of time. You can also add a small piece of fresh ginger directly to the pitcher of lemonade for extra flavor.
