Guava Jasmine Iced Tea: A Refreshing Summer Drink Recipe

Refreshing Guava Jasmine Iced Tea with homemade guava syrup and delicate jasmine tea. Perfect for hot days!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups water, divided
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 ripe guavas, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 4 jasmine tea bags
  • Ice cubes, for serving
  • Optional garnishes: fresh guava slices, jasmine flowers, mint sprigs

Instructions

  1. Combine 2 cups of water and sugar in a medium saucepan.
  2. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved (3-5 minutes).
  3. Add chopped guava.
  4. Bring to a gentle simmer, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until guava is soft and has released its flavor.
  5. Remove from heat. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a heat-proof bowl, pressing down on the guava solids to extract syrup. Discard pulp.
  6. Cool the syrup completely.
  7. Bring the remaining 4 cups of water to a boil.
  8. Pour boiling water into a pitcher or teapot. Add jasmine tea bags.
  9. Steep for 3-5 minutes (4 minutes recommended).
  10. Remove tea bags and discard. Do not squeeze.
  11. Allow the jasmine tea to cool to room temperature or refrigerate.
  12. Combine cooled guava syrup and jasmine tea in a large pitcher.
  13. Taste and adjust sweetness with more syrup or water, as needed.
  14. Fill glasses with ice cubes.
  15. Pour guava jasmine iced tea over ice.
  16. Garnish with guava slices, jasmine flowers, or mint sprigs (optional).

Notes

  • Tea Variations: Substitute jasmine tea with green tea, white tea, or black tea.
  • Citrus: Add a squeeze of lime or lemon juice for a tangy flavor.
  • Sparkling: Top with sparkling water or club soda for a fizzy twist.
  • Spice: Add ginger or a cinnamon stick to the guava syrup while simmering.
  • Frozen Guava: Use thawed frozen guava pulp if fresh guava is unavailable.
  • Guava Ratio: Adjust the guava to water ratio for a stronger guava flavor.
  • Large Batch: Double or triple the recipe for parties.
  • Storage: Store leftover iced tea in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Guava Selection: Choose ripe, fragrant guavas that are slightly soft to the touch.
  • Serving Suggestions: Serve with guava cake, pair with spicy foods, or garnish with edible flowers.
