Refreshing Guava Limeade Mocktail: a vibrant, easy-to-make drink with fresh guava puree, lime juice, and a touch of sweetness. Perfect for a hot day and customizable to your taste.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ripe guavas, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 1 cup water (for blending guavas)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water (for simple syrup)
  • 1 cup fresh lime juice (approximately 68 limes, depending on size)
  • 4 cups chilled sparkling water or club soda
  • Lime wedges, for garnish
  • Guava slices, for garnish (optional)
  • Fresh mint sprigs, for garnish (optional)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Prepare Guava Puree: Peel and roughly chop guavas. Blend with 1 cup of water until smooth. Strain the puree through a fine-mesh sieve (optional, but recommended). Discard seeds and pulp.
  2. Make Simple Syrup: In a saucepan, combine 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Simmer for 1-2 minutes. Cool completely.
  3. Assemble Mocktail: In a pitcher, combine guava puree, lime juice, and cooled simple syrup. Stir well and adjust sweetness/tartness to taste.
  4. Add Sparkling Water: Slowly pour in chilled sparkling water or club soda. Stir gently.
  5. Chill: Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  6. Serve: Fill glasses with ice. Pour in the guava limeade. Garnish with lime wedges, guava slices, and/or mint sprigs. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Adjust sweetness of simple syrup to your preference.
  • For a spicy kick, add a pinch of chili powder or jalapeño slices to the guava puree while blending.
  • Infuse the simple syrup with herbs like rosemary or thyme for a more complex flavor.
  • If fresh guavas are unavailable, use thawed frozen guava pulp.
  • For an adult version, add a shot of white rum or tequila to each glass.
  • Experiment with different guava varieties for different flavors and colors.
  • Prepare the guava puree and simple syrup ahead of time and store them in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For a party, consider serving the guava limeade in a large glass dispenser with slices of guava and lime floating inside.
