Lemon Ginger Turmeric Shots: Benefits, Recipe, and More

A potent shot with lemon, ginger, and turmeric to boost immunity and reduce inflammation. Great for a morning kick!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (approximately 68 lemons)
  • 2-inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 2-inch piece of fresh turmeric root, peeled and roughly chopped (or 2 tablespoons turmeric powder)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup water (or more, depending on desired consistency)
  • Optional: Pinch of cayenne pepper for an extra kick
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar for added health benefits

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Lemons: Juice lemons to get 1 cup of fresh juice, removing any seeds.
  2. Prepare the Ginger and Turmeric: Peel and roughly chop the ginger and turmeric. If using turmeric powder, skip the chopping.
  3. Measure Remaining Ingredients: Measure out black pepper, honey (or maple syrup), and water.
  4. Combine Ingredients in the Blender: Add lemon juice, chopped ginger, chopped turmeric (or turmeric powder), black pepper, honey (or maple syrup), and water to a high-powered blender. Add cayenne pepper or apple cider vinegar, if using.
  5. Blend Until Smooth: Blend on high speed until completely smooth (1-2 minutes).
  6. Taste and Adjust: Taste and adjust sweetness (honey/maple syrup), spice (cayenne pepper), or strength (water).
  7. Strain (Optional): If using a regular blender or prefer a smoother consistency, strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or nut milk bag.
  8. Pour into Shot Glasses: Pour the mixture into shot glasses.
  9. Enjoy Immediately: Take one shot daily, preferably in the morning on an empty stomach.
  10. Store Leftovers: Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, or freeze in ice cube trays.

Notes

  • Adjust sweetness and spice to your liking.
  • Experiment with other ingredients like orange juice, grapefruit juice, or jalapeño.
  • If shots are too strong, add more water.
  • Consult with a healthcare professional before making significant dietary changes.
  • If shots are too bitter, add more honey or maple syrup.
  • If shots are too spicy, reduce the amount of ginger, turmeric, or cayenne pepper.
  • If blender won’t blend the ingredients smoothly, try chopping the ginger and turmeric into smaller pieces.
