Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a little heat)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 12 tablespoons milk (to thin, if needed)
  • 4 large tortillas (whole wheat, spinach, or your favorite)
  • 4 cups romaine lettuce, chopped
  • 1/2 cup croutons
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (extra, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Shrimp: In a medium bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Make sure the shrimp are evenly coated with the spices.
  2. Cook the Shrimp: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
  3. Cook Time: Cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are pink and opaque. Be careful not to overcook the shrimp.
  4. Remove from Heat: Once the shrimp are cooked through, remove them from the skillet and set aside to cool slightly. Place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
  5. Combine Ingredients (Dressing): In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, and Worcestershire sauce.
  6. Season to Taste (Dressing): Season the dressing with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Adjust Consistency (Dressing): If the dressing is too thick, add milk, one tablespoon at a time, until it reaches your desired consistency.
  8. Taste Test (Dressing): Give the dressing a final taste and adjust the seasonings as needed.
  9. Warm the Tortillas (Optional): If desired, warm the tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat for a few seconds per side, or microwave them for 10-15 seconds.
  10. Spread the Dressing: Spread a generous amount of Caesar dressing over each tortilla, leaving a small border around the edges.
  11. Add the Lettuce: Top each tortilla with a layer of chopped romaine lettuce. Make sure the lettuce is dry.
  12. Add the Shrimp: Arrange the cooked shrimp evenly over the lettuce.
  13. Sprinkle with Croutons and Parmesan: Sprinkle the croutons and extra Parmesan cheese over the shrimp.
  14. Roll the Wraps: To roll the wraps, fold in the sides of the tortilla, then tightly roll it up from the bottom. Secure the wrap with a toothpick if needed.
  15. Cut and Serve: Cut the wraps in half diagonally, if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Spice it Up: For a spicier wrap, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the shrimp seasoning or a dash of hot sauce to the Caesar dressing.
  • Add Veggies: Feel free to add other vegetables to the wraps, such as sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, or bell peppers.
  • Use Different Protein: If you’re not a fan of shrimp, you can substitute grilled chicken, steak, or tofu.
  • Make it Vegetarian: Omit the shrimp and add grilled halloumi cheese or roasted chickpeas for a vegetarian option.
  • Homemade Croutons: For the best flavor, make your own croutons by tossing cubed bread with olive oil, garlic powder, and Parmesan cheese, then baking until golden brown.
  • Make Ahead: You can prepare the shrimp and Caesar dressing ahead of time and store them in the refrigerator until ready to assemble the wraps. However, it’s best to assemble the wraps just before serving to prevent them from becoming soggy.
  • Gluten-Free Option: Use gluten-free tortillas and gluten-free croutons for a gluten-free version of this recipe.
  • Dairy-Free Option: Use dairy-free mayonnaise and Parmesan cheese alternatives for a dairy-free version. You can also make your own dairy-free Caesar dressing using cashews or sunflower seeds as a base.
  • Serving Suggestions: Serve the Shrimp Caesar Wraps with a side of coleslaw, potato salad, or fruit salad. These wraps are also great for picnics, potlucks, and lunchboxes. For a more substantial meal, serve the wraps with a bowl of soup or a side of roasted vegetables.
  • Storage Instructions: Store leftover Shrimp Caesar Wraps in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. However, keep in mind that the wraps may become slightly soggy over time. It’s best to store the shrimp and Caesar dressing separately from the tortillas and lettuce to prevent the wraps from becoming soggy.
