The Tequila Sunrise is a colorful and refreshing cocktail made with silver tequila, fresh orange juice, and grenadine syrup, creating a beautiful gradient that resembles a sunrise. Perfect for warm days and celebrations, this drink is garnished with an orange slice and a maraschino cherry for an extra touch of flair.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz tequila (preferably silver or blanco)
  • 4 oz orange juice (freshly squeezed is best)
  • 1/2 oz grenadine syrup
  • Ice cubes
  • Orange slice (for garnish)
  • Maraschino cherry (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Start by selecting a tall glass, such as a highball or a hurricane glass.
  2. Rinse the glass with cold water and fill it with ice cubes to chill the glass.
  3. In a cocktail shaker, pour in 2 oz of tequila.
  4. Add 4 oz of freshly squeezed orange juice to the shaker.
  5. Secure the lid on the shaker and shake gently for about 10-15 seconds.
  6. Carefully strain the tequila and orange juice mixture over the ice in the prepared glass.
  7. Slowly pour 1/2 oz of grenadine syrup into the glass, allowing it to sink to the bottom for a gradient effect.
  8. Place an orange slice on the rim of the glass.
  9. Drop a maraschino cherry on top of the drink or place it on the orange slice.
  10. Serve immediately while cold and refreshing.
  11. Provide a straw or stirrer for guests to mix the drink slightly before sipping.

Notes

  • Use high-quality tequila and fresh orange juice for the best flavor.
  • Add more grenadine for a sweeter drink, but use sparingly.
  • Consider adding lime juice or bitters for a twist.
  • Use colorful straws or cocktail umbrellas for a festive touch.
