A refreshing watermelon margarita, perfect for summer! Made with fresh watermelon puree, tequila, Cointreau, and lime juice.

  • 6 cups cubed seedless watermelon, plus extra for garnish
  • 1 cup tequila blanco (silver)
  • ½ cup Cointreau or other orange liqueur
  • ½ cup fresh lime juice, plus extra for rimming glasses
  • ¼ cup agave nectar, or more to taste
  • Ice
  • Lime wedges, for garnish
  • Coarse salt or sugar, for rimming glasses (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Watermelon Puree: Cube watermelon and blend until smooth. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve for a smoother texture (optional). Chill for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Mix Margarita: In a pitcher, combine chilled watermelon puree, tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, and agave nectar.
  3. Adjust Sweetness: Taste and add more agave nectar if needed. Stir well to dissolve.
  4. Chill (Optional): Chill the mixture for 30 minutes for best flavor.
  5. Prepare Glasses (Optional): Rim glasses with salt or sugar.
  6. Serve: Fill glasses with ice, pour in the margarita mixture, and garnish with watermelon and lime wedges. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a spicy margarita, add jalapeño slices to the watermelon puree while blending.
  • Use reposado tequila for a smoky flavor.
  • For a frozen margarita, blend all ingredients with ice.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit the tequila and Cointreau.
  • Adjust sweetness to your liking.
  • Make the margarita mixture ahead of time (up to 24 hours).
